If you love lighthouses you must visit Maine. They have over 60 lighthouses the most of any New England State. They have been beacons of light for sailors for hundreds of years. They have lighthouse boat tours and most have museums on their oceanfront grounds. Maine has beautiful beaches, great restaurants, white water rafting, and much more. Maine is most famous for Lobster, they have 3,478 miles of coastline, 3,166 off shore islands and the largest city is Portland.
We flew to New Hampshire this summer and drove our motor home back to South Dakota.
The drive through New Hampshire, Vermont and New York State was the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen with trees on each side of the highway just takes your breathe away. I have included a few of the pictures we took along the way. The second picture is of Mt Washington which you can drive or they have guided tours. A little history about Mt Washington is the wind speeds they have, especially in the winter.
If you are going to drive through the Eastern States I would suggest purchasing an EZ Pass either online 14 days before your trip (as it takes this long to come in the mail) or picking it up at any of their locations. It really saves you time and money (about 33%) when traveling on the toll roads and it covers 17 states.
Indiana roads hold on to your hat if you are wearing one as the roads are extremely bumpy. Iowa when we drove through it was 11o degrees which was a tad bit hot, so make sure your air conditioner is ready to go.
The main items we really needed during our trip were a first aid kit, chairs and GPS.
I’m sure you read the title of this post and had a few questions…
We know that the TSA is responsible for ensuring our safety as we board a plane, and despite frustrated passengers, crazy government shutdowns, insane crowds and more, they’re doing a spectacular job these days. We just don’t associate the TSA with, “fun.”
If you’re an Instagram user, we’re about to blow your minds and make you believe that the TSA is actually a lot of fun.
Did you know that the TSA has an Instagram page where they show some of the ridiculous items people have tried to bring through security? It’s true. They will often post about these items with informative, yet entertaining captions regarding what is or is not allowed through a security checkpoint. They will also take questions from their followers about obscure items that they might want to bring onto a plane.

While today’s post is sponsored by the letter “F”, were going to talk about the novelty bomb that’s attached to it. … Yes, it’s a novelty bomb, but as we’ve discussed here before, replicas of weapons, especially bombs, are not permitted in carry-on or checked bags. … When our officers spot a potential explosive on the monitor, they cannot just open the bag and take a looksee to find out if it’s real or not. A TSA explosives specialist or a police department bomb squad must respond before the bag is ever opened. This can lead to costly evacuations, delays, and missed flights. These types of items can also lead to hefty fines and arrest. Contact your preferred shipper about your options, because they can’t travel via commercial aircraft. So even though they aren’t real, they can cause a lot of very real headaches. … As for the “F”, after long and careful thought, we’ve determined that it must stand for Fred. This must have been Fred’s novelty bomb. It was discovered in a carry-on bag at the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).
They also celebrate the working dogs that are part of the TSA family. If you like dogs, there’s reason enough to give them a follow.

Puppies! Puppies! PUPPIES!!! We are super-excited to celebrate #NationalPuppyDay in honor of our hard-working, four-legged friends. That includes Cole, one of our TSA Explosives Detection Canines. His big eyes, sensitive nose, and wagging tail are on duty at Orlando International Airport. … In spite of their cuteness, not all canines can make the cut to become a TSA working dog. Did you know that approximately 83 percent of canines graduate from the training program? That’s about 350 canines each year. Check out our website to learn more about our canines and the important role they play in keeping travelers safe! … #DogsofInstagram #WorkingDogs #Dogstagram #Travel #TSAcanines #AirportLife #Orlando #Florida
You know that one person who loves to give others directions but not really sure of how to actually explain it. Well I’m that person.
According to www.quora.com, GPS systems are extremely versatile and can be found in almost any industry sector. They can be used to map forests, help farmers harvest their fields, and navigate airplanes on the ground or in the air. GPS systems are used in military applications and by emergency crews to locate people in need of assistance.
For us, we just want to make sure that we get to our destination without incident. Maps are nice, but they’re harder to update, difficult to read, can’t be used while driving (without a copilot) and take up too much space in the cab.
Find a GPS Unit that suits your needs.
…because your phone maps won’t always get signal…
